Biography: Natalia Grossman is an American rock climber who has made several podium finishes in IFSC Climbing World Cup events, as well as winning medals at the World Championships and secured her spot in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with a victory at the 2023 Pan American Games.
Born in California, Grossman took up climbing at six. Her formative years were shaped by training at the Pacific Edge climbing gym, where notable climbers like Chris Sharma had honed their skills.
Grossman later joined the esteemed Zero Gravity team, practicing at Berkeley Ironworks. The disbandment of Zero Gravity in 2014 prompted her family's move to Boulder, Colorado, in 2015, where Grossman continued her training with Team ABC, guided by coach Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou.
Upon embarking on her competition career, she quickly distinguished herself. At the World Youth Championships in Arco, Italy, in 2019, she took second place in both the bouldering and combined categories. That same year, Grossman triumphed in the Bouldering National Cup Series and was crowned champion at the USA Climbing 2020 Bouldering Open National Championship.
By 2021, she had earned a spot on the United States national team in both bouldering and lead climbing disciplines. That May, she captured her inaugural World Cup gold medals in Salt Lake City, even outperforming the esteemed Janja Garnbret in one competition. Throughout the 2021 lead climbing season, she frequently found herself among the top contenders.
The cancellation of competitions in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic didn't deter Grossmna, as she turned her attention to outdoor climbing.
