Science may have hailed him as the most attractive man in the world, but Robert Pattinson has proven that he is more than his looks. He is not afraid to rock the boat when it comes to Hollywood norms, and he does this by bending stereotypes and by speaking up against the harmful patterns being perpetrated in our society.

The Batman actor made a bold fashion move when he showed up at the Paris show in a blue tweed skirt. To complete this chic look, he donned a fur jacket, high socks, and a pair of black leather boots.
Pattinson is the latest celebrity to put the spotlight on the male skirt, along with other famous men — Brad Pitt included — who promoted this unisex look on the runway. This trend encourages gents to get in touch with their feminine side, and sends the message that skirts on men should not automatically be associated with queerness.

He may have pulled off his bold garment at the Dior show, but he hasn’t always had the courage to do something like this. He previously shared that he suffered from anxiety and body dysmorphia, or the obsession with one’s perceived defects and flaws.
“I don’t have a 6-pack and I hate going to the gym. I’ve been like that my whole life. I never want to take my shirt off.” In one interview, he revealed that during his Twilight days, the production team asked him to remove his shirt but, “I think they told me to put it back on again.”

He admitted to trying various diet methods, one of which was eating potatoes as a form of detoxification. “Just boiled potatoes and Himalayan pink salt. Apparently it’s a cleanse... you definitely lose weight.”
He also tried the ketogenic diet. “I have basically tried every fad you can think of, everything except consistency.” So his 2023 resolution is exactly that — to be more consistent with his eating habits.

When he was asked about how he got into shape for his Batman role, Pattinson was quoted saying, “I think if you’re working out all the time, you’re part of the problem. You set a precedent. No one was doing this in the ’70s. Even James Dean—he wasn’t exactly ripped.”
He got a lot of flak for his response, but he later explained that he didn’t want to speak about his exercise regimen because it was “quite embarrassing when you get into a pattern of answering questions about your workout, because there’ll always be a guy who’s in better shape than you.”

He added that the intense pressure to look good affects men too, even the younger generations. “Yeah, it’s crazy. And it’s very, very easy to fall into that pattern as well, even if you’re just watching your calorie intake, it’s extraordinarily addictive.”
But he also sent out a warning, and hopefully, this will encourage people to break away from the negative pattern — “You don’t quite realize how insidious it is until it’s too late.”
What do you think of Pattinson’s skirt ensemble? Have you ever struggled with your body image? What did you do to overcome it?
