Simon Cowell has reportedly unfollowed former Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams on social media. Walliams left the show in 2022 after offensive comments he made about BGT contestants were made public.
The Daily Mail reports that Cowell has unfollowed Walliams on social media. The pair worked together for many years as judges on Britain’s Got Talent. In November 2022, it was revealed that Walliams had made derogatory comments about contestants during filming in 2020.
Walliams apologized for the remarks, saying they were part of “private conversations” that “were never intended to be shared.” The comedian ended up leaving the show, and he was replaced in the next season by Bruno Tonioli.
Earlier this year, Cowell broke his silence on the controversy, saying Walliams’ comments went against the “ethos” of the show and were “completely unacceptable.” However, he emphasized that Walliams was “very respectful” most of the time. Cowell also claimed that it was Walliams who “decided to take a step back” and leave the panel.

Cowell’s decision to unfollow Walliams might be connected to reports that the former judge is suing the show and seeking “significant damages.” Walliams is reportedly accusing production company Fremantle of a “data protection breach” for allegedly retaining transcripts of audio recordings which “had no relevance to production of the show.”
The Sun reports that, according to court documents, Walliams has suffered suicidal thoughts over the situation and has “lost the ability to be funny.” The controversy has also apparently had “catastrophic results for his reputation and career.”
Although it was reported that Cowell had called Walliams’ accusations “plain wrong,” a representative for the music mogul denied that he had commented on the situation. They added that Cowell is not involved in the lawsuit.
